I can feel spring in the air. Even though it’s only mid-February, the mild weather and sunshine has brought on some major spring fever over here!
And for me, that always means getting outside for a good run. I don’t run on a treadmill anymore because I get too bored, and prefer to do my in-home Beachbody workouts during the winter. So, running is seasonal for me and it works out great.
There is something about running outside that is unlike anything else. I don’t wear headphones – I love the sounds of my feet hitting the pavement, the traffic in the distance, and the white noise around me.
Bottom line - running makes me a better mom. It’s my time to clear my head and let my thoughts wander. The amazing part is that what usually ends up happening is inspiration and total clarity. I’ve written some of my favorite social media posts in my head while running, answered questions I’ve been tossing around in my head, and cleared my mind of things that were nagging at me.
There have been times that I’ve left the house in a tizzy, desperately needing a break from mom life, and come back 30 minutes later clear-headed and feeling more patient and renewed.
Above all of these things, I am always able to connect and be present with my family more after my run. I shed all of the pent-up energy that builds up inside of me, and can sit down and focus on our time together.
It really is the best therapy.
